Behind the Table

Being a craft show vendor for more than 20 years, it took courage to step out from behind the table to showcase my business. Several months ago, our team in our neighborhood invited our community small business owners the opportunity to showcase their local business. Walking around the event, it was easy to see who was not afraid to talk to other people and who hid behind their tables. It was fun to learn about the different businesses, but it was interesting to see who stayed seated behind tables or gathered in the walkways to share and demonstrate their products.

In Toastmasters, we are gathered in the same manner and given the opportunity to vocally share through a networking environment, more about who we are, and the tools to build our speaking skills that will help us to engage in conversations with others. The platform of Toastmasters opens up the doors to learn how to communicate what and who you are selling. If your business puts you in the spotlight, are you able to comfortably express within a few minutes who you are, what you are selling and who your target audience is? Toastmasters will help you to corral your networking skills, speaking skills and presentation skills in a matter of a few speeches. If you are the person behind the table, isn’t it time to move to the front of your table to be able to present your business confidently and effectively
